Crafter's Anonymous
My name is Sereitha and I’m the avid crocheter and crafter with over 20 years of design know-how. I am a Woman of the city, I am a Londoner, a mother and I am here because I love to create.
With a lowly textile degree under my belt (and not much else) I took up the specialism of knitting and vowed to conquer the world…eek!
I have spent years gazing through the window of the craft worlds trying to figure out how to mark out a place for myself. From my design background through to my working life in industries that I sat in but never felt at home, my voice never truly resonated and the desire to realise my ideas never quenched.
My identity is paramount to the Latchspoke experience and it is important that I do not shy away from this. My stance is not to be one of militance or exclusion but of knowledge and the core of which is embracing who I am and making that a part of my journey.
Many friends and family who are in my life, or who are no longer here, will always be the great source of inspiration, but one of the most impactful things I was ever told was “creativity is sometimes all we have and we are nothing without it. So just get on and do it”. For too long I have searched for the right creative direction to take, delaying my decision to just get started. I have now decided that I should no longer procrastinate: knit, make clothes, paint, design, draw and simply produce the things I love, I’ll do it all and find the story within each.
Latchspoke is about the relationship/partnership between the instruments I use and the service I have dreamed of offering clients. This is it! This is the beginning of the next chapter in my life. The one where I decide to hold my breath and plunge head first into documenting and sharing my creative life.
